Drawing, specification and feasibility review
Find the ambiguities, conflicts and unfeasible requirements in your technical package before the supplier finds them in production.
01What the service involves
QUALITAS TR reviews the technical documentation package that the supplier will work to: drawings, 3D models, material and process specifications, referenced standards, bills of material and quality requirements.
The review checks completeness (all referenced documents available, revisions consistent), clarity (dimensioning and GD&T unambiguous, notes clear), compatibility (requirements do not contradict each other), standards availability (the supplier has or can obtain the referenced standards) and feasibility (tolerances, surface finishes and processes are achievable with the supplier's equipment at reasonable cost).
02Why buyers need it
Technical queries raised during manufacturing cost time on both sides. Requirements that are not feasible lead to concessions, rework or silent deviation. A focused review before production removes most of them.
It also reveals where your drawings depend on unwritten knowledge that a new supplier does not have.
03Typical applications
- RFQ packages for new suppliers
- Product transfers between suppliers
- Legacy drawings to modern standards
- Imported designs adapted to local materials
- Complex castings and forgings
- Assemblies with many referenced specifications
04Methodology
Package inventory
Document list with revisions; missing items identified.
Drawing review
Dimensioning, datums, tolerances, notes and title block checked.
Specification review
Materials, processes, finishes and testing requirements checked for consistency.
Feasibility
Critical requirements discussed with the supplier against their process capability.
Report
Comment sheet with recommended clarifications and alternatives for your engineering team.
05Applicable standards and references
Drawings are reviewed against the dimensioning standard they declare, ISO GPS (ISO 1101 and related standards) or ASME Y14.5. Configuration of documents is managed using ISO 10007 principles.
06Deliverables
- Document inventory and revision list
- Drawing and specification comment sheet
- Feasibility assessment of critical requirements
- Standards availability list
- Recommended clarifications
07Customer benefits
- Fewer technical queries during production
- Feasible tolerances agreed upfront
- Lower cost through design clarifications
- Faster supplier start-up
- Better first article results
