Local Technical Representation
Resident quality engineering
For critical orders and large projects, a dedicated engineer at the supplier, every working day.
01What the service involves
A resident quality engineer or resident inspector is assigned to one supplier or a cluster of nearby suppliers for the duration of an order or project. The resident performs ITP inspections, surveys ongoing production, attends tests, reviews documents, follows progress and resolves day to day technical and quality issues on site.
Residency can be full time, part time (for example three days a week) or campaign based around critical phases.
02Why buyers need it
For high value or highly critical orders, periodic visits leave gaps. Many decisions are made daily on the shop floor, and a resident ensures the buyer's requirements are applied in each of them.
Residency is also the most efficient model when many inspection points occur close together.
