Supplier audits and assessments

Before you place the order, know whether the supplier can deliver it. On-site, evidence-based audits of capability, processes and quality systems.

Overview

Certificates show intent. Audits show capability.

An ISO 9001 certificate tells you that a supplier operates a management system. It does not tell you whether the supplier can hold a 0.02 mm position tolerance, weld duplex stainless steel, or deliver 400 castings a month without porosity. Those questions are answered on the shop floor.

QUALITAS TR performs second-party audits on behalf of buyers: supplier qualification and capability audits before sourcing, process and special process audits during industrialisation, and periodic or for-cause audits for existing suppliers. Each audit combines a management system review with a technical process review led by an engineer who understands the process being audited.

Audit programmes follow the principles of ISO 19011 and are scored against a checklist agreed with you, typically based on ISO 9001 and the relevant sector or process requirements such as IATF 16949, VDA 6.3, ISO 3834 or your own supplier quality manual.

Risk decides the depth of control

Audit findings feed a risk ranking that sets inspection frequency and hold points for each supplier.

Risk matrix: severity versus occurrence

A simplified 5 x 5 matrix used to rank supplier and process risks before an inspection plan is set. Select a cell.

Educational model

Rows: occurrence. Columns: severity.

Higher scores call for stronger controls: hold points, 100% checks or process changes.

How we work

An audit you can base a sourcing decision on

Structured, scored and evidence-based, with a clear recommendation.

  1. Plan

Audit objective, scope, criteria and checklist agreed with you. Supplier documents requested in advance.

  2. Opening and walk

Opening meeting, then a process walk from goods receipt to shipment following an actual order.

  3. Process and system review

Process controls, measurement capability, special processes, traceability, nonconformity handling and CAPA examined with objective evidence.

  4. Scoring

Each question rated against defined criteria. Major and minor findings recorded with evidence and photographs.

  5. Report and follow-up

Report with overall rating, recommendation (approve, approve with conditions, not approve) and verification of corrective actions.

Frequently asked questions

Are your audits certification audits?

No. They are second-party audits on behalf of the buyer. They do not lead to a certificate. Their purpose is to support your sourcing, approval and development decisions.

Can you audit against our own supplier quality manual?

Yes. We use your manual and checklist, or build a checklist from it, so results are comparable with audits your own team performs elsewhere.

Direct contact. No forms.

Discuss your inspection, audit or project requirements

Send us the purchase order scope, drawings, specifications or ITP and the supplier location. You will receive a written proposal with scope, inspector profile, schedule and reporting format.
