Third-Party Inspection

Electrical and instrumentation inspection

Electrical panels, equipment and instrumentation checked for construction, wiring, labelling and function, with routine electrical tests witnessed.

01What the service involves

QUALITAS TR inspects low voltage panels and switchgear, motor control centres, control and automation panels, cable and wiring, instrumentation and electrical equipment integrated into machinery and skids.

Inspection covers bill of materials and component conformity, enclosure and IP rating features, busbar and cable sizing against drawings, wiring quality and termination, labelling and ferrules, earthing and bonding, and the witnessing of routine tests such as insulation resistance, dielectric tests, continuity, functional and sequence tests.

02Why buyers need it

Electrical panels are often built from approved drawings but with substituted components, undocumented wiring changes or incomplete labelling. These issues delay commissioning and create safety risks.

Inspection at the panel builder, before cables are terminated in the field, is the most efficient point to correct them.

03Typical applications

  • Low voltage switchboards and MCCs
  • PLC and automation panels
  • Machine electrical equipment
  • Instrumentation on skids and packages
  • Cable and wiring harnesses
  • Renewable energy electrical equipment

04Methodology

  1. Document review

Single line diagrams, schematics, BOM and test procedure reviewed.

  2. Construction check

Enclosure, component brands and ratings, busbars, segregation and earthing verified.

  3. Wiring check

Termination quality, cable sizes, colours, ferrules and labelling inspected.

  4. Test witnessing

Insulation, dielectric, continuity, functional and sequence tests witnessed.

  5. Release

Punch list closed, documents verified, release recommendation issued.

05Applicable standards and references

Panel assemblies are commonly built and tested to the IEC 61439 series and machinery electrical equipment to IEC 60204-1. Exact routine verification requirements are taken from the standard and edition named in your specification.

06Deliverables
